This week's home learning

Hello everyone,

For this week’s home learning, we would like your child to build on the maths work they have been doing on fractions. The children have been learning what a fraction represents and are beginning to understand comparisons—for example, that 1/2 is a larger amount than 1/4.

Next week, we will be taking a short break from fractions to focus on mass and capacity, before returning to fractions later.

Your child should have brought home a printed copy of their home learning, but here is an electronic copy should you need one.

Please find this week’s spellings below. A hard copy should also have been sent home on Friday. At the beginning of this term, we assessed the children on their spelling of common high-frequency and common exception words for Key Stage 1. I am currently updating each child’s individual spelling list; once complete, your child’s personalised list on EdShed will reflect the words they need to practise further.

This term, teachers have pre-recorded the parent and carer information sessions. The Year 3 session will be shared with you shortly and will include key updates and important dates for the coming term. Recording these sessions ensures that all families have equal access to the information; however, please do feel free to email me with any questions.

Kind regards,
The year 3 team

Hello everyone,

We hope you all had a wonderful break and were able to enjoy some of the recent warmer weather with your families. It has been lovely to see the sunshine, and we hope everyone is feeling refreshed and ready for the new term ahead.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming the children back and beginning what promises to be a busy and exciting summer term.

A few key dates and reminders for the coming week:

“This Is Me” Self Portrait Exhibition will launch on 15th April at 3:30pm. We look forward to sharing the children’s wonderful work with you.

Forest School will take place every Thursday. It is strongly recommended that children continue to wear long trousers and long-sleeved tops to protect them from stings, bites, cuts and scrapes, as well as the sun. Sun hats and sun protection are also advised.

On Friday, we will be holding a Science Fair from 3:00pm. We hope many of you will be able to join us.

We hope the children are feeling excited about returning to school, and we cannot wait to see them all again and begin a brilliant summer term together.

Warm regards,
The Year 3 Team
