Home learning - Easter Holiday

Easter Holiday   - Year 3 Home Learning
What can you find out about The Vikings?
Their homes, when/where they lived, their family life, customs, religion, wars, longboats
It would be great if you could present some of your findings:
Maybe a short piece of writing, or diagrams, or pictures.
Have a great holiday!

Wrong Shoes

Earlier in the week, one of the boys went home with the wrong shoes and his own shoes are now missing. Please can you check that your son has not brought home the wrong shoes by mistake. The shoes we are looking for have "flashing lights" on the sides that can be turned on.
Many thanks,

Torches - Successful lesson

Thank you for all of the torches that came to school today.
These were a real help for our Science lesson.
Perhaps you could "test" your child on the meaning of the following:
transparent
opaque
translucent

Interesting Farm Visit

We had a very interesting time at Maiden Castle Farm this morning. There was lots going on! The cows were as interested in meeting the children as the children were in meeting the cows. We particularly enjoyed watching the shepherds in action and, as well as seeing dozens of lambs,  we watched Lee assisting a ewe in the birth of a lamb. - A very special experience which the children found fascinating!
Many thanks to Hazel for her sharing her knowledge and expertise.

Farm visit - Tuesday

Dear Parents,
Tomorrow we are spending the morning at Maiden Castle Farm. Hazel will be showing us around the lambing pens
Please make sure that your child brings appropriate outdoor footwear to change into, and plenty of warm layers. We will be back in time to keep the usual arrangements for lunch.

Today's visit to St. George's Church, Fordington

Dear Parents,
Today's visit to St. George's Church was a great success. We spent some time looking at the special features that you find in a church - such as the font, lectern, pulpit, altar, pews. And also looked at some of special details of St. George's - such as the Norman arch over the entrance depicting St. George in battle.
The children enjoyed their visit and were very well behaved indeed; a real credit to the school.
Well done Year 3!

Torches

Dear Parents,
It would be very useful to have a large number of torches available for our Science activity on Wednesday afternoon. We will be looking at materials to see whether they are transparent, translucent or opaque.
If you could possibly allow your child to bring in a torch from home on Wednesday I would be very grateful. ("Named Torches" would be even better.)
Many Thanks,
Mr. MacBean
