Y3 and Y4 Making Lanterns for the "Christmas Cracker" Night

Today the children in Year 3 and 4 made lanterns with Megan and Rachel from Dorchester Arts.
Any of the children and their parents would be very welcome to join the procession which starts the "Christmas Cracker Evening", leaving from the "Top-of-Town" roundabout at 6.00 pm on Thursday 7th December.

Friday 1st December- “Journey to the Stable” United Church, Dorchester.

Friday 1st December-
“Journey to the Stable” United Church, Dorchester.

This Friday 1st December, the children in Year 3 will be visiting the United Church in Dorchester. We will be taking part in the “Journey to the Stable” experience. This is organised by the church and teaches the children about the Christmas Story as it is told in the Bible. The children will not be directly involved in an act of worship at the church, but will be learning about what the Christmas Story means to Christians.
We will be walking to the church after registration in the morning, staying for about an hour and a half, and returning in time for lunch.
I would be very grateful to any parents/grandparents who would be able to come along with us for the morning.
Please let me know if you would like to come along and help us on this outing.

Year 3 learning about "Measurement" in Mathematics sessions

The children in Year 3 are enjoying learning about "Measurement" in their Mathematics lessons.
This week we have been working on measuring lengths and getting to grips with mm, cm, m and km.
For our "Home Learning" activity this week, we are hoping that you can do some measuring at home. I have provided a list of things that you might like to have a go at measuring.

Year Three Home learning Wednesday 22nd November

“Premier League Writing Stars Competition”
We thought that as their “Home learning” activity this week, the children in Year Three might like to work on entries for the competition that has been promoted by Mrs Johnson.
The competition asks schoolchildren aged 5-11 to write around the theme of resilience.
What does it mean to you to “Try, try and try again”?

The campaign is supported by the National Literacy Trust and is part of the Premier League Primary Stars education programme, which has engaged more than 10,000 primary schools and 13,000 teachers in England and Wales.
"Premier League Writing Stars is backed by established authors and poets as well as footballers and our aim is to enthuse children, teachers and parents alike."

And as Mrs. Johnson says:
“It is a super opportunity to combine a love of writing with a love of sport and also our learning powers - resilience.

We would like as many of you as possible to get involved - the potential prizes are out of this world!!!!! I know our writers are very creative and I am sure they will do well! Look out for the pro-forma coming home this week-end and simply get writing!”
