Fun at our Sports Morning

Well done to everyone for a very successful Sports Morning this morning. We had lots of fun.
All of the children had a thoroughly enjoyable time taking part in the races, in the skills carousel and the country dancing.
Many thanks to the parents and grandparents who came along.

Home learning - Friday 26th June

For their "Home learning" this week, I have given the children the challenge of finding out about some of the rivers in Great Britain.
Just a reminder that next week we are going to visit the River Wey at its source at Upwey Wishing Well and at its mouth at Radipole Lake in Weymouth. There are still quite a number of children who have not yet brought back their "permission slips".

Year Three meet the D.M.S. Eco Team

The children in Year 3 had an enjoyable afternoon with the Eco Team from D.M.S. who came to visit with their teachers Mrs Whiting and Mrs Young.
We had a discussion about the activities that we have carried out over the year as part of our Eco Schools campaign and then split into groups to get busy with some "Eco-work" together.
Have a look at the fantastic bird-feeders and Eco Team badges that we made!

Home Learning - Friday 19th June

For their "home learning" this week, I have asked the children to have a go at learning (to recite) the poem "Ducks' Ditty" from "The Wind in the Willows":
“DUCKS’ DITTY.”
             By Kenneth Grahame
All along the backwater,
Through the rushes tall,
Ducks are a-dabbling,
Up tails all!

Ducks’ tails, drakes’ tails,
Yellow feet a-quiver,
Yellow bills all out of sight
Busy in the river!

Slushy green undergrowth
Where the roach swim—
Here we keep our larder,
Cool and full and dim.

Everyone for what he likes!
We like to be
Heads down, tails up,
Dabbling free!

High in the blue above
Swifts whirl and call—
We are down a-dabbling
Up tails all!

Kites

This week we are all going to make a kite! That's one kite each!
We are very grateful to the P.O.W.S.A. for funding this project.
Let's hope for a "windy-ish" day on Friday so that we can have fun Kite-Flying.

Amazing Artwork

Why not get involved with this year's Art Competition.  Please hand your entries to your child's class teacher by Friday 19th June.  Adults why don't you get involved too?  The theme is "The Art of Science and Technology."

Thank you - from Mr. David and Miss Boniface

We would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff at Prince of Wales, children and of course Parents and Guardians for inviting us into your community and making us feel so welcome. We have learnt so much during our 8 weeks which we hope carry with us throughout the rest of our time at university, and into practice in a few years. Our time here has flown by and we are both really sad to be leaving.
We wish all the children good luck in the future and hope you all have a fantastic summer!

Mr David and Miss Boniface

Thank you Esme-Kate and Mrs Williams (Rosa's Mummy)

We would like to say a great big "THANK YOU" to Esme-Kate and Mrs. Williams for coming and joining us for our P.H.S.E. session on Friday.
In our "Jigsaw" lessons this half-term we are thinking about how our bodies change as we grow. Esme-Kate was able to tell us (with Mum's help) all about what it's like being a baby and how we change and grow in the first months of our lives.
The children (and adults) in Year 3 were captivated by Esme's charming company.
We all very much enjoyed the lesson.

"Relationships and Sex Education" - successful meeting

Dear Parents,
Thank you to those of you that managed to get along to the "Relationships and Sex Education" meeting on Friday. I hope that you found this useful. I felt that there was lots of interesting discussion and that we all felt that the program being delivered by the "Jigsaw" scheme has been put together well.
For those of you who were unable to attend, the Jigsaw scheme that we are using (in common with most other DASP First schools) introduces Relationships and Sex education in an age appropriate, progressive way.
We will be covering this during this half-term in a series of 5 lessons within the unit of work called "Changing Me".
If you have any concerns, do feel free to come and see me about this.
Mr. MacBean

Bike it breakfast - 9th June

On Tuesday 9th June we are holding another "Bike-It-
Breakfast".
All children and parents who cycle or scooter to school
will be offered a drink and healthy flapjack.
We will be running
various other Biking and Scooting activities throughout the day.
This
"Bike-It-Breakfast" coincides with a special assembly we will be having
during the day.
In this assembly, we will be celebrating our
activities as an Eco-School and will be presented with our Eco-Schools
Silver award.

All entries will be displayed in our pop up art gallery on Monday 22nd of June.  This exhibition will be a celebration of our learning in Science and Technology Week through the medium of Art, Craft and Design.

You will also be able to see all entries to our competition.  The gallery will be open from 2:30pm and you are welcome to come and browse!

Go on, get creative!
