Fun at Kingston Maurward

The children in Year 3 had a lovely time at Kingston Maurward yesterday enjoying the prize won by Bruno and Archie in their art competition earlier in the year.
In spite of heat, we managed to have a cool time looking at the animals and plants with the education staff. We had a go at "Guinea Pig Fishing" and our prize-winners were allowed to hold Skye the beautiful Barn Owl.

CDs for Sale

Dear Parents,
One of our Young Enterprise Business Teams (Bruno, Tilly, Mable and Luke) would like to make you aware of the CDs that they will be selling after our Class Assembly on Friday.
The CDs featuring the children's music will be available for the special offer price of £3. A bargain!
So don't forget your wallets.
The children would like to inform you that they cannot accept cheques or credit cards.
We look forward to seeing you at the Assembly - 9.20 am on Friday 15th July.
Many thanks for all of your support with the "Fiver Challenge". The children (mostly) enjoyed the experience.

Rio Olympics Focus

Dear Parents,
This week all of the children in the school are having a focus on the Rio Olympics.
The children in Year 3 are going to be finding out a bit about the history of the Olympic Games. We are also going to be taking a look at the Amazon Rainforest.
On Friday all of the parents are invited along from 2.00pm to see our Carnival Procession that Mrs. Mewett is leading, based on Samba workshops that she is doing with the children. Year 3 will be picking up their Rainforest theme with their Rainforest animal masks that they will be wearing (based on a story that we will be studying called "The Great Kapok Tree").

Home Learning Year 3 Friday 1st July

Rivers of Great Britain.

I have given the children a map and asked them to fill in the names of some rivers, cities and sea areas. They will need to use an atlas, or map from the internet to be able to do this activity.

I do have some atlases that I can lend to any children that would like to borrow one.

Successful trips to Upwey and Radipole

The children in Year 3 enjoyed two very successful days out on Monday and Friday this week.
We learned a lot of interesting history at the St. Laurence Church in Upwey. Our thanks to Mr. Chris Carter, the church verger, who talked to the children very knowledgeably about this beautiful church.
We enjoyed looking at the Wishing Well, the source of the River Wey. At Radipole R.S.P.B Nature Reserve we enjoyed pond-dipping and bug-hunting. Our thanks to the staff there too, who made sure the children had a thoroughly interesting time.
