The week ahead

Congratulations to Imogen for the winning Poem at Beefest at the weekend that is fantastic news!

Year 3 were also the winner of the Mathletics challenge last week and we get to have the Mathletics trophy in our room. We were so impressed with how much enthusiasm the children had for this challenge so well done everyone, it was a team effort!

Tomorrow starts our Inclusive Sports Fortnight. We will be viewing an extreme bike show tomorrow and on Friday you are invited in for our Dance day performance from 2.30pm.

Please can we remind you the importance of sun hats and sun cream in this very warm weather. Forest School will be very warm but the best protection is a light weight long sleeve top and trousers. We we provide plenty of shade and have water available.

CInema trip on Monday

Just a reminder that our class cinema trip will be on Monday (how exciting!!!).  We will be walking there at around 9.15am. Everyone to bring their own snack for the cinema please and normal drinks (no fizzy). After the cinema we hope to walk to the borough gardens to have a picnic lunch and a play in the park but this will depend on the weather. If your child was down to have a hot dinner then a packed lunch will be provided.

Normal school clothes please. The children will be carrying their own snack, drinks and lunch so will need a small rucksack.

Roll on Toy Story 4!

Let the challenge commence!

Tomorrow sees the start of a new Mathletics challenge. All the classes will be going head to head to try and get as many points as possible! With this in mind please could we encourage you to allow your child to spend some time on Mathletics this week. I have set some new challenges for the children to get stuck in to. During the day we will have the Chromebooks where possibly and will have the ipads available also.

This week we will be staying with 'time' in Maths. We will be working out duration of time and work through word problems.

Marvellous Maths!

This week in Maths we have been reading the time to the nearest five minutes and today we have even been reading to the nearest minute! The children have been working extremely hard to understand when we say 'past' and when to say 'to'.

In Jigsaw this week we discussed how babies grow inside the womb. Next week we will be discussing changes in the body.

A letter is going home today about our cinema trip next Monday.

Summer 2 here we come!

Wow can you believe it is the last term in Year 3! This term we will be focusing on The Celts. Starting next week we will be working with Year 4 to learn about the Celts.

In Maths we will be looking at time. In particular this week we will be looking at the length of months and weeks in the year.

There will be no Forest School tomorrow afternoon, instead we will be having a focus on a competition we are going to enter all about Bees!

On Wednesday this week DMS have rearranged the Athletics tournament. The children can wear their PE clothes in to school (trainers will be best for this). We will be back at school for lunch so they will just need a small snack and a drink. Please can we also have sun hats if the weather is nice!  This tournament may well be cancelled at late notice due to our lovely British weather. If it is I will blog and put a board out.
