Brilliant trip to The Etches Collection and a BIG thank you!

Hi Year Three Families,

We had a fantastic trip to the Etches Collection today! The children were curious, enthusiastic, and full of questions from the moment we arrived. It was wonderful to see them so engaged and fascinated by the incredible fossils and stories of life from millions of years ago.

From ammonites to ichthyosaurs, the children were captivated by the chance to explore ancient sea creatures and understand how our local area was once deep underwater. They particularly loved the mighty Pliosaur, and many of them shared some really thoughtful ideas and observations — true budding palaeontologists!

Their designosaurs were fantastic too, congratulations to the competition winners as judged by the staff at the collection.

The staff at the museum were very complimentary about the children's behaviour, manners, and eagerness to learn. We were so proud of the way they represented our school.

Trips like these are a brilliant way to bring learning to life, and today was no exception.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for all the thoughtful and wonderful gifts that the children have give us today.

It has been a wonderful year and myself, Mrs Scott and Mrs Thomas have really enjoyed accompanying the children on their learning journey this year!

I hope you all have a wonderful summer and I know everyone will have a brilliant Year with Miss White next year! Exciting times ahead for these fantastic bunch of children!

Thank you, as always, for all your support.

A busy last full week full of surprises for Mrs Scott!

Dear Year Three Families,

What a brilliant week it’s been in Year Three!

The children have been absolute stars at keeping surprises, as this week marked our final full week with the ever-wonderful Mrs Scott. On Tuesday, we secretly created chicken masks in preparation for a surprise tea party on Thursday afternoon. The children were also fantastic at keeping things under wraps on Thursday morning, when the sneaky Ms Evans told them there was an urgent maths test and they would need to come out in pairs to complete it… But there was no test! Instead, they were helping to create a special leavers book for Mrs Scott – and not one child let the secret slip. It was so heartwarming to see how thoughtful and kind the children have been towards Mrs Scott this week – even if it involved a few harmless porkie pies!

We’ve also completed our textiles projects, which will be coming home this week. Year Three, your sewing skills have been fantastic – well done!

Another huge celebration – Year Three have completed their Fiver Challenge and raised over £450! This is such an incredible achievement and a true testament to the children’s creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit. We are so proud of them all!

A quick reminder: our final trip of the year is tomorrow. Please ensure your child has a packed lunch, plenty to drink, and appropriate clothing – including a coat, suncream, or hat depending on the weather. Details can be found on Arbor.

I can hardly believe we’re reaching the end of Year Three already – what a year it’s been! We’re looking forward to a joyful and memorable final few days together.

Quite possibly the busiest week ever in Year 3

Goodness me I don't know where to start!

Year Three have had such a busy week!!

On Monday we started with our Football Skills workshop with the team from Jamie Knight, Sports Day Tuesday, Thursday we had skateboarding and Friday was dance day! Phew! The children were amazing throughout!

Amongst all of that we wrote our stories based on Flotsam, completed our learning about The Tolpuddle Martyrs and started our sewing projects. We are desperate for volunteers to help children so we can get them all done before the end of term, if you fancy some time sewing with a small group, please let me know!

Looking ahead to this week, it's our final full week in Year 3. Tuesday is 'bump up' afternoon so the chilled will be spending the afternoon in Year 4 with Miss White.

Wednesday is forest school, please ensure children have a hat, suncream and a water bottle.

On Thursday we will be sending home the children's work from Year 3, please make sure your child has a bag for life with them this week as we begin to fill it.

Thursday afternoon is also our last fiver challenge sale, please let me know if your group needs additional funds from their profits to fund the sale this week and I can arrange that.

As we are on a trip on Monday, we will be having a games session on Friday morning, children can bring a non electronic toy or game with them but please no Pokemon cards as these cause issues with confusion around ownership.

On Friday from 2:00-3:30 we have our much anticipated Herd of Elephants Exhibition. This is your opportunity to adopt your child's elephant. You are warmly welcomed to attend the exhibition with your child and leave a little bit early afterwards. If you are unable to attend but would still like to adopt the elephant via a donation to Weldmar Hospice please do let me know before and we can arrange this so children can bring their elephant home with them.

The Exhibition is our main fundraising event for Weldmar and suggested adoption donations are £3, £5 or £10 all of which will go directly to Weldmar to help support their vital work.

As ever please do get in touch if you need anything.
