Year 3: PSHE week and assembly news

This week the children have been working so hard to plan and write their adventure stories. They have found Mary Anning and are taking her back in time to the land of the dinosaurs! Tomorrow sees the last day of writing and I cannot wait to read how they all finish.

Yesterday we had Mel Lane from the SPACE project in the classroom sharing the story  'And Tango makes three'. It was a story about two male penguins who didn't have an egg to incubate but the keepers of New York Zoo gave them one. We spoke about how families can be made differently and that the most important thing about a family is the love that is shared. As a class we spoke about the fact that there is no 'girls' and 'boy' things such as toys, clothing and everyday life such as mud. The children were very good at recognising and reasoning why it is ok for anybody to play with any toys and wear anything that they want to. The children showed compassion and kindness throughout the visit and I was really proud of them all.

Thank you to everybody for taking the time to fill in the swimming form. This will be every Wednesday pm after half term. I have put the children in groups to start off with but these may change when we start swimming. We have had many discussions about swimming and I know that there are a few children that might be feeling apprehensive about the lessons but I can assure you that the Year 3 team will be there every week and the children will be more settled once they have been the first time.

On the first Friday after half term (11th) it will be our class assembly. This will be for parents only in the hall (socially distant). We will be practising this after half term.

I won't see you all now but I hope you all have a lovely half term next week 😊
