Y3: DRAGONS! Sketching, writing, Science, enterprise and AMAZING drama!

Wow what an amazing week we have had so far!

On Monday the children learnt about Dragons that have been spotted using Arthur Spiderwick's book below

It is a beautiful book with some amazing illustrations!

We then had a go at drawing our own dragons. These turned out brilliantly! We used a picture from the book to inspire our writing.

The children had to use a fronted adverbial along with a simile to describe the items above. For example one of the sentences that they wrote was:

Grated finely, a swirly dragons horn can make you fly as fast as a plane.

All of their work was fantastic and a Marvellous Me is on the way. We have collated the work along with the pictures and stuck them in the writing hall of frame! I will try and update you with a picture of these soon.

Sticking with the Dragon theme... we have also completed a whole school Science investigation. The children had to predict, investigate and evaluate the following statement: 'The wider the hand span the more dragon eggs you can pick up'.

Thank you to everyone who is helping out either on the stalls at school or at home with the fiver challenge. It is brilliant to see and hear the children so enthusiastic about their enterprise and they are all doing so well!

We will add some more photos of this at the end of the week.

Today the children had a go at our new resource in school called 'Now, Press, Play'. They had wireless headphones and listened to a story. The narrator gave the children tasks and actions to do. It was absolutely brilliant!! Every child was so involved in the lesson and they can't wait to try them again very soon!

Finally just a reminder that it is our sports afternoon tomorrow. So if you could make sure your child has their PE kit in school with trainers please that would be great. You are welcome to come and watch this. It will be socially distant.

Once again thank you for your continued support. I cannot believe we only have 12 more school days left of Year 3!

The Year 3 team 😊
