Y3- Brilliant home learning!

Thank you all so much for your hard work with your totem pole home learning. We all discussed what the children had found out about totem poles. In Forest School we plan to make our own totem poles. We will also use the information in our story writing over the next couple of weeks.

This week we are taking part in a Mathletics challenge. So this week we will be logging on to Mathletics and earning lots of points to try and get us on to the national leader board.

Have you got any of these in your garden that you do not need?

Year 3 have started to build a new bug hotel in the Forest School area. We are after some more resources to fill it up! Do you have any of the items in the pictures below that we could have please? If you do have anything lying about in your garden please give this to Mrs Thorpe in Year 3.

Year 3 - March Maths Challenge - 8th March 2019

Next week we are taking part in the Mathletics March Maths Challenge.  We have entered into this competition against other children across the world who use Mathletics.  It runs from Monday 11th to Sunday 17th March.  If we can get onto the leader boards we stand a good chance of winning a prize for the school.  So get logged on and lets see how many points we can earn!  Points earned at home as well as at school all count, so go Mathletics Mad!

Y3- Home learning 6th March

Today in Year 3 we have learnt about the rocky mountains. The children had a set out questions that they needed to research using google maps and kiddle. It was interesting to hear that we have many family members living in Canada!

Year 3 Home Learning- 6.3.19

As part of your home learning this week we would like you to research about totem poles.

What animals can you find on them? Do they represent anything? What else can you find out about them?

On the sheet attached can you draw and label your own totem pole.

This home learning will be collected in on Monday 11th March.

Mrs Thorpe's + Mrs Bishop's spelling list- 5th March.

Below are the spellings that Mrs Bishop will be testing the children on Thursday. On Thursday the children will then get new spellings.

impatient
impossible
imperfect
immature
impolite
All the children should have a hard copy of this. If they loose them we have spares in the classroom.

Many thanks

Mrs Thorpe + Mrs Bishop

Y3- The start of book week

Welcome to book week! Today we had the privilege of listening to an extract of David Solomons up coming book that hasn't even been published yet. We saw David and the town Mayor open our library. This week we will spend some time changing books and making sure all of the children are up together with their AR reading. These quizzes can be completed at home by following the links on our school website. The children have done this many times now and can show you the links.

This afternoon all of Year 3 worked on their green for growths on their non chronological Stone Age reports. These were fantastic pieces of writing. If you want to have a read of them please feel free to ask your child to show you their books in the morning.

Congratulations all of our award winners last week. It was brilliant to hear them all talk enthusiastically about winning the awards today. I would also like to congratulate our dancers and gymnasts as there are have been a couple of competitions recently. Well done to everyone that has performed in these!

Finally, just to let you all know we are off to The Thomas Hardye School tomorrow to learn about rocks!

Y3- Collecting these resources please

Hello everyone. For an upcoming Art/Literacy project  starting on the 11th March, we would like to start collecting cardboard tubes (kitchen rolls, pringles type tubes) and also and large tins with lids such as the large coffee tins, maybe you have one at work? It has to be able to hold water.

We look forward to sharing our creations in a few weeks time!
