A fantastic day learning about the bronze age!

What an amazing day we have had outside learning about the bronze age. Thank you so much to Mark from the Ancient Wessex Network who made the day so interesting. Mark set up a number of activities and the children enjoyed digging for artefacts, cave painting, weaving, mosaics, pot making and tin casting. As with everything we do in Year 3, we spoke about what happens if we find things difficult or things do not go quite to plan. This was definitely the case when it came to the pot making (a few broke) and the tin casting which was very difficult and did not work for a lot of children. I have said we have some spare pots that the children can have tomorrow if they did not get to take one home today.

Thank you to our parent volunteers for helping us today 😀

I'm now going to share lots of photos from our brilliant day.

Year 3 reminders for the week.

Just a quick reminder that it is flu spray immunisations tomorrow. There will be social stories coming home today for the children who may need them.

Also on Thursday we hope to have a Celt day at the roundhouse area. We will be having an expert coming in who has some exciting historical activities lined up. With this is mind please can your child come in Forest School clothes all day on Thursday. Waterproofs and wellingtons are encouraged as at the moment it looks like there may be a lot of rain before the session. I will blog if we have to postpone due to the weather but fingers crossed we might be ok.

Thank you to the parents that have offered to help for the day.

Last thing, it is also parent evenings this week. I still have a few parents that have not signed up. If you cannot make the timings left please do email me or catch me in the morning at the door.

Thank you 😀

Year 3: How many meatballs can you make in 20 minutes?!

What a fantastic end of the week we have had. Thanks to Ben from Brace of Butchers who came in and supplied us with all of the beef to make meatballs. The children really enjoyed making these. 382 meatballs in 20 minutes was pretty impressive!

I am so proud of the class for signing and singing our Harvest song today. Thank you for all of contributions to the food bank and for coming along this afternoon to sample our delicious meatballs.

I hope you have a lovely weekend

Year 3: No Forest School tomorrow

Just a quick message to say that there is no forest school tomorrow pm as we have The Brace of Butchers coming in to make mini meatballs for our Friday offerings.

If you could share this information with anyone who you think might not read this blog then that would be great.

Thank you

Year 3: The week so far...

We have had a very busy week so far. On Tuesday Helen came in and gave us a talk on what it is to be a Humanist. This was such an interesting talk and the children found out about something completely new to them.

On Tuesday afternoon they spent time with Jack who is a Christian and they did art work using his music and pictures as inspiration.

Today we have predicted and planned an investigation into the material which would give the most friction for a car moving down a ramp. The children worked in teams to experiment with the four different materials and then summarised this at the end.

This afternoon we followed a step by step guide to drawing a cow! These will be up for the Harvest celebration on Friday
