Mathletics Year 3

Don't forget to have a go at our on-line "Mathletics" challenge at home.
There are still some children in Year 3 who are not taking up this challenge.
Well done to Jensen, Harris, Mason, Darcey, Millie, Tilly, James K and Megan who all managed to get a Bronze certificate for earning over 1000 points this week....
and an even bigger "Well done!" to Hannah and Joshua who achieved a Silver certificate for passing 2000 points!
I have set the children some challenges relating to "Time" to fit in with the work we are covering in class.

In our Mathematics Lessons next week we will having another focus on learning about...

"Time".

For your information, here are the areas that we will be revisiting. These are learning objectives taken directly from the Mathematics National Curriculum at Year 3:

Tell and write the time from an analogue clock, including using Roman numerals from I to XII, and 12-hour and 24-hour clocks
Estimate and read time with increasing accuracy to the nearest minute.
Use vocabulary such as o'clock, a.m./p.m., morning, afternoon, noon and midnight.
Know the number of seconds in a minute and the number of days in each month, year and leap year.
Compare durations of events (for example to calculate the time taken by particular events or tasks).

Old Wellington Boots?

We have another plan afoot!  Have you got any old, outgrown or holey wellies at home?  If so we would like to use them for a project in Eco Week.  Please bring in your old wellies to year 2 to be up-cycled!

Used CDs

I am after used CDs which we can paint and stick onto for an Eco school activity. If you have any old CDs you are willing to hand over, please bring them to the school office or find me in Year 2 classroom.

Reading Targets on Learning Diaries - Year 3

You may have noticed that I have been sticking a "reading target" on the front of the children's diaries. This is to give the children a specific focus to work towards. It will help the children to see their reading as an on-going progress, with different elements of learning. If you have any concerns on your child's reading at home or would like to discuss their targets please feel free to see me in the morning or after school.
