Assembly this week

This week we will be preparing for our class assembly on Friday. Lines should hopefully come home tomorrow once we have practiced!

Home learning this week is shield making, please bring them in on Friday for the Roman day.

Last week of the fiver challenge. Please can I ask after your last session could you give your wallets with the money to Mrs Scott or if you finish on Friday then Mrs Brooker. I can then collect them before the half term. I am so proud to see all of the children working together and showing such enthusiasm to sell their products and services. Well done everyone keep going!

Theatre company with an important message to save the world!

Thank you to everyone that attended the parent information session this morning. We discussed the upcoming lessons that will be taught in Year 3 regarding Relationships and Sex Education (RSE).

This morning the children watched a fascinating play with an important message-use less plastic! The play followed two sea turtles through their life as they struggled with the litter in the sea. All of the props and puppets were hand made out of recycled materials. It really was a brilliant show!

Thank you to all of the parents who have been involved in the fiver challenge. It is great to see good team work, discussions and change giving!

A busy week!

Welcome to another busy week in Year 3!

Today in Maths the children had to give directions using right angle turns eg. turn one right angle turn anti-clockwise. In Literacy we have been finding out about Pompeii. The children will be doing their big write on Friday.

This afternoon in Forest School the children made Roman cuffs. They had pieces of leather which they punched wholes in using a tool and hammer. They were also looking for a variety of different bugs!

The fiver challenge starts tomorrow after school outside the Y3 classroom (beat the goalie will be either on the field or behind the boat). I will put a board out tomorrow to remind everyone and will remind the children in assembly. Class tables can be taken from our room whilst we are in assembly from 3.15pm.

I put a list outside the Y3 classroom this afternoon, please could you put what your child will be dressed as for our Roman day next Friday. We can then write parts in the assembly which is the same day (next Friday 24th).

This Wednesday is our parent information session, this will be held in the Y3 classroom. The children will be asked to put their things away on Weds morning then go to the library.

Many thanks

The Year 3 team

Football champion!

Congratulations to Kurtis who took part in the National Bournemouth R&T Tournament.

Kurtis and his team Redlands Rebels Under 8s, played 6 matches at the weekend and came runners up. Wow what a brilliant achievement!

A special mention to Kurtis though as he went onto win player of the tournament out of 12 teams and received his award from Ledley King an ex Tottenham Hotspur player. Year 3 are super proud!

Cricket super stars!

Well done to all of our cricketers. They had a fantastic morning at the Cricket pavilion with 4 other DASP schools. They even kept a smile on their faces in the soggy weather!

Fronted adverbials with our friends Suzy and baby Alan!

This morning the children got to meet Suzy crab. Suzy helped the children to add fronted adverbial phrases in to their Roman soldier letter. I explained how Suzy was the Mum crab and so was the main 'clause'. She always makes sense by herself. For example

'We marched towards Hadrian's wall'.

She also had a son called baby Alan. Baby Alan doesn't make sense by himself

'With determination'

So Mummy crab has to hold his hand, they stay together using a bit of seaweed (comma). Together they make sense and form a fronted adverbial phrase.

'With determination, we marched towards Hadrian's wall'.

The children really enjoyed meeting the crabs...wait for it....
