This morning the children got to meet Suzy crab. Suzy helped the children to add fronted adverbial phrases in to their Roman soldier letter. I explained how Suzy was the Mum crab and so was the main 'clause'. She always makes sense by herself. For example
'We marched towards Hadrian's wall'.
She also had a son called baby Alan. Baby Alan doesn't make sense by himself
'With determination'
So Mummy crab has to hold his hand, they stay together using a bit of seaweed (comma). Together they make sense and form a fronted adverbial phrase.
'With determination, we marched towards Hadrian's wall'.
The children really enjoyed meeting the crabs...wait for it....
