Year 3 - Keep smiling - 18.3.2020

On Friday we will be ending term with a non-uniform day with the children invited to wear bright clothes to bring us some cheer and a donation for our local food bank!  We would also like to bring a smile to all of our faces by having a joke to share as well.  Put your thinking caps on and bring along your favourite joke to tell and share. You can join in at home as well, just email them in in the usual way and wear your brightest clothes for the day.

Y3- Learning this week

This week in Literacy/History we will be focussing on Boudicca. We will be finding out who she was, what she did and the impact this had. If you are at home learning this week bbc bitesize KS2 History is a fantastic resource. There are some fantastic short video clips on there all about the Romans and Boudicca.

In Power Maths this week we are learning to multiply a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number. It is really important that we are breaking down the multiplication in to the ones and then the tens. For example

This afternoon we looked at our skeleton. The children learnt the names of the bones in our body and then we discussed the role of our skeletons and what would happen if they weren't there. We all then went out to the garden to find as many animals as we could with a skeleton. We saw chickens, guinea pigs, birds, frog and then the children found a few creatures that they are unsure if they have skeletons. I wonder what you think at home? Do woodlice, worms and slugs have skeletons?

Y3 Film request

This week we wanted to show clips of the new Horrible Histories movie Rotten Romans. This film is rated a PG. If you would prefer your child not to watch the clips please do let us know.

Forest School reminder

Hello everyone. Just a reminder it is Forest School tomorrow (same group as last week). Warm waterproof clothes will be needed please.

Tomorrow we will start learning about Boudicca. If you haven’t had a chance to watch the horrible histories movie Rotten Romans this is a great film and the children who have already watched this have learnt a lot from it! We will be watching clips from it this week. I believe it is on Amazon Prime.
