Year 3 - Home Learning - 5th March 2019

First of all an apology!  I seem to have mixed up the groups and the type of costume they need in the home learning that came home today.  If your child is in Slytherin or Hufflepuff groups they will need a CELTIC costume to match the wonderful shields that they made in the holidays.  If your child is in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw they will need a ROMAN costume to match the amazing shields they made in the school holidays.  Sorry for the confusion!

Power Maths books will be coming home tomorrow.  Friday 6th March 2020.

Here is the home learning:

For Roman you could go anything from Roman Soldier to Toga (old sheets work well for this). For Celtic warrior tracksuit bottoms, baggy shirts, blankets and big belts.  The children already have some fantastic shields to go with their costumes and we will be using these over the coming weeks to recreate some scenes from the times of the Roman Invasion! Please bring your costume in as soon as possible and at the latest by Monday 16th March.

Also a Maths Challenge:
  1.  Many of the children will be bringing home their old Power Maths practise books in order to complete any gaps.  Please see the separate letter coming home with the books.  There is no time limit on this piece of home learning, but returned books will earn a special reward.

  1.  X Table Check.  We would like to encourage the children to practise and begin to learn their times tables off by heart.  There are three levels of challenge here: For Bronze Level your child needs to be able to write the multiples of the times table in order, for example 2, 4, 6, 8….  24. For Silver Level you child needs to be able to calculate x statements not in order, for example ?=5x4, 9x4=?, ?x4=24. For Gold Level your child will need to complete a quick fire times table check at school.  This week as a starter we would like you to look at the 2 and 4 x tables. Please have a go at filling in the Bronze and Silver levels on the sheet and return to school by Wednesday 11th March.

Thank you

The year 3 team
