Well done Year 3 on winning the GOLD medal in week one of fitness February that is fantastic! I'm glad you are enjoying being active whether its on a daily walk/bike ride or fitness in your house.
I hope you are all enjoying learning about the Celts. I've loved seeing your Stonehenges and writing about roundhouses. Is there anything that you are really enjoying that you want to share with me? Or at the same time is there anything that you might be struggling with that you want to let me know about? I'm always here to help and happy to have zoom meetings where needed.
This week we have started statistics in Maths and focussed on pictograms before moving on to bar charts. Why not make a chart daily? For example what's your favourite pizza topping? Or fruit? You could do a vote in the house about what film you want to watch? It's great practice for the children to make bar charts as sometimes this can be a tricky skill to grip.
During RWI time this week the children have sheets that link to sounds that they have already covered in their books. In this weeks pack you will have a booklet that the children will use in this RWI time however it will now be called 'grammar and punctuation'. I will do daily videos to explain what I would like the children to do so please do show them these where possible. We will pick up the RWI and spelling when we are all back together at school. You will also get our next group text which is Matilda. It's inevitable that some children may have already read this book. I suggest that if they have read it then they could either read it again or skim read the chapters and spend their daily time answering the comprehension questions in the booklet I have prepared. If you think that this story may be a little hard for your child then please do share it with them. Maybe you could take it in turns to read a paragraph or even a sentence at a time. I know a lot of children will say that they have watched the movie but there really isn't anything better than reading the story! Some children may not be anywhere near close to finishing their last books which is absolutely fine it's just we wanted you to have the book there ready.
If you have any questions please do email me. I look forward to seeing all the children on zoom tomorrow.
Mrs Thorpe
