This week we have been looking at the story of The Great Kapok Tree. It tells the story of a logger who falls asleep at the bottom of a Kapok tree. A number of animals then visit the man and tell him why we should save the Rainforest. We have been acting like the characters from the story and using drama to help us remember what the animals said to the logger.
Today the children had to use the speech from the different animals and write this in to speech bubbles.
In Power Maths this week we have had to use our BLP especially the resilient tortoise. We have been putting numbers to 1000 on a numberline which has no numbers on the intervals. This is an example of one of the questions we have looked at today
In Science this week we have finished off making our terrariums. We will be observing these over the next few weeks to see if there are any changes to the containers.
We have also been looking at how water travels through plants. We used the coloured water experiment and recorded over time how the water travelled through the tubes in celery. In this terms knowledge organiser you can see definitions of these processes.
This afternoon we have travelled to an orangutan clinic in Borneo, and we saw loggers in action in the Amazon.
