Today in Computing, our Year Three pupils delved into the fascinating world of spreadsheets. With Mr. Spracklen leading the way, they revisited key concepts and learnt how to use spreadsheet effectively.
The learning objectives for this session were:
- To recap spreadsheet terms and purposes.
- To add and edit data in a table layout.
- To explore how spreadsheet programs can automatically create graphs from data.
Our success criteria ensured that pupils:
- Used correct terminology for spreadsheet programs.
- Created a table of data on a spreadsheet.
- Used the program to generate charts and graphs automatically.
Using 2Calculate on Purple Mash, the children quickly got to grips with inputting data, editing table layouts, and exploring the magic of automatic chart and graph creation. It was wonderful to see their excitement as their carefully entered numbers transformed into colourful, clear visual representations.
The pupils demonstrated fantastic focus and creativity, building confidence in a skill that is as important in today’s digital world as it is practical. By the end of the session, every child successfully created their own charts and graphs, showcasing their newfound knowledge.
This lesson laid a solid foundation for further exploration into data handling and analysis—a crucial part of our Computing curriculum. WELL DONE YEAR THREEE! Keep up the amazing work.
Stay tuned for more updates on our Computing adventures! Mr Spracklen
