Year Three truly rose to the challenge as we brought together everything we’ve been learning in our Purple Mash Graphing unit. The children tackled ‘Using ‘2Graph’ in an Investigation – and what an impressive mission it was!
Mr Spracklen was blown away by the focus, teamwork and enthusiasm in Year Three. They were a class on a mission — a mission to investigate, gather data, and present their findings using clear, colourful digital graphs!
The pupils began by choosing their own investigation question — from favourite food to favourite dinosaurs! They thought carefully about how to collect their data, using tally charts, surveys and observations, before diving into 2Graph to bring their results to life.
Using their growing confidence with Purple Mash tools, the children expertly transformed raw data into a range of graph types. Some chose bar charts, others pictograms — and what really impressed me was how many were able to explain why they had chosen a particular graph type for their data.
Not only did they apply their computing skills, but they also used mathematical reasoning and showed a clear understanding of how graphs help us to analyse and interpret information.
To round off the session, pupils exported their work and began completing their investigation worksheets, reflecting on what they had discovered and how they had used digital tools to solve real-world questions.
Well done Year Three — your computing skills are growing every week, and today you truly showed what it means to be #InspiredToLearn!
