Composing Emails

Today in Computing, we had an exciting lesson with Mr. Spracklen all about Composing Emails! 📨

Aims:
We learned how to open and respond to an email, which was really fun. We also practiced writing emails to our classmates and sending them from our address book. Mr. Spracklen explained how emails are like sending letters but much faster!

Success Criteria:
By the end of the lesson, we could:

  • Open an email and reply to it.
  • Write emails to our friends in the class.
  • (Extension) Use the search option to find our classmates in the address book to send emails to them!

In today’s lesson, we used 2Email in PurpleMash, which is a special sandbox environment designed for us to practice safely. It’s like a mini email system just for our class, where we can send and receive emails without worrying about real-world emails.

We practiced checking our inboxes and clicking on emails to open them.

Once we read them, we could click Reply and write our answers.

Everyone had a go at sending an email to someone else in the class. It was great fun!

Some of us even went further and used the search bar to find our friends' names quickly when sending emails. It was a little tricky at first, but we got the hang of it in no time.

It was a fun and important lesson and we can’t wait to learn more about using emails in the future!

World Book Day

 Hi Year 3 Families,

We have had a smashing World Book Day, the children all looked AMAZING in their costumes. We visited the Book swap, and I hope the children have enjoyed reading their new book this evening.

We also had a fantastic Live Lesson with the legendary Micheal Rosen during English today.

Here are some photos of our fabulous costumes.

Smashing start to Spring 2

 Hi Year Three Families,

We had an absolutely lovely week of new beginnings. We started new learning focuses in: English, Art, Science and History.

In English our new book is called The Escape from Pompeii and complements our new history topic of Celts and the Roman Invasion of Britain perfectly.

In Art we are learning all about hatching and cross hatching, we also learnt how to draw birds, all the children's artwork was impressive.

In Science our topic this half term is on light, this week we were exploring the differences between natural and artificial light.

We also had great fun on Break the Rules day and a few pranks were played on me with a Whoopee Cushion!!

In the coming week we have World Book Day on Thursday, children will still be swimming in the afternoons so please be mindful of this with their costumes, please no hair spray or make up. If you would prefer for your child to change out of their costume before we go to the pool please ensure they have a suitable change of clothes with them.

We will also be having 3 mystery readers this week.

Photos to follow as I'm having some techincal issues!

Please do get in touch if you would like to discuss anything.
