Home Learning Friday 7th March

Homework Year 3- “Writing My Story in the Style of a Myth”.
Dear Parents,
The children in Year 3 are very enthusiastic about starting to write their “Myths” next week. We have talked about the key features of this style of story.
Please could you encourage the children to continue planning their “Myth –style” story over the weekend. They may like to take their planning home over the course of next week too, but it is important that they bring any of this planning to school each day, as this project will be running through the week.
Yours sincerely,

Proud to be me week, dressing up day!

On Monday 24th February we will be having a themed week in school called "Proud to be me".

On Friday 28th February we would like to finish the week with a dressing up day, the theme being "This is what I would like to do when I grow up!" The focus is on aspirations, what career/job I would love to do when I am older.

A letter will be coming out on Friday 14th February.

Home Learning - Feb 7th

What Can You Find Out?
What did the ancient Greeks eat?
What can you find out about Athena?
What was it like to be a slave in ancient Greece?
Find out about wars in the times of the ancient Greeks.
What was an Oracle?
Who was Aphrodite?
What is the Parthenon?
Find the names of as many ancient Greek Heroes as you can.

I have asked the children to do some research relating to our topic about the Ancient Greeks.

Homophones - Home Learning

For their "home learning" this week I have asked the children to collect pairs of homophones (eg pear, pair- shore, sure - sea, see - wear, where- etc).
There is an "activity sheet" explaining this.
Thank you,

Happy New Year

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year from the Year 3DM Team (Mr. MacBean, Mrs. Bernard, Mrs. Long, Miss Kensington, Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Thorne, Mrs. Dukes and Mrs. Mewett)

We all hope that you all had an enjoyable Christmas holiday! (In spite of the rain!)

I will be holding a Parents’ Mathematics Workshop Session on Wednesday 15th January at 9.00 am.
This will be an opportunity to hear about our approach to teaching and learning within the Mathematics curriculum.
Just a bit of advanced notice-  Our Class Assembly is on Friday 31st January at 9.20 am, in the school hall.

Our main topic for the first half-term term is “the Myths and Legends of Ancient Greece”.

I'm sorry about the lack of "Blogs" over the period before Christmas. This was due to technical difficulties. These have now hopefully been resolved.
