"Ducks' Ditty"
– a poem in “The Wind in the Willows” by Kenneth Grahame
Can you decorate the “poem page” with sketches of the dabbling ducks and the characters of Rat and Mole as they take the little boat down the river?

Can you learn to recite this poem? – or a part of it?

 

“DUCKS’ DITTY.” 

       

All along the backwater,

Through the rushes tall,

Ducks are a-dabbling,

Up tails all!

 Ducks’ tails, drakes’ tails,

Yellow feet a-quiver,

Yellow bills all out of sight

Busy in the river!

 Slushy green undergrowth

Where the roach swim—

Here we keep our larder,

Cool and full and dim.

 Everyone for what he likes!

We like to be

Heads down, tails up,

Dabbling free!

High in the blue above

Swifts whirl and call—

We are down a-dabbling

Up tails all!

Saturday 10th June - School Summer fayre

The Prince of Wales Summer Fayre is this Saturday 10^th June 11-2pm! Do please come along, bring family and friends.

A football tournament, activities and games for children, BBQ, bouncy castle, skittles, prizes to be won! The event is solely to raise funds for our school and Pre-School. Finally, if you do feel you could help man a stall then do please sign up in the foyer of the main school or over at Pre-school. More helpers mean that everyone can enjoy the event.

Friday 9^th June – This day is a ‘non School uniform’ day – Please bring in chocolates and wine to donate towards the fayre tombola’s please. We do also need cakes for the café and teddies too!

Year Three Progress Tests - after the half-term holiday

Year Three Progress Tests

Weeks beginning Tues 6^th June and Monday 12^th June

After the half-term break, the children in Year 3 will be taking some “tests” in English and Maths. They will be asked to complete a test booklet in these areas.
We will be delivering these tests in an encouraging and positive way and making the process as enjoyable as possible; we do, however, need the children to work with a necessary level of independence in line with other schools that are taking these tests.
The purpose of these tests is to help us to track the children’s progress and ensure that they are receiving access to learning at a level appropriate to their needs.

Year 3 Super Schools and Grant Fielder

The children in Year Three had fun doing there "Super Schools" activities today. They all managed to do really well, completing the four challenging exercises that they had been practising.
We then saw a fantastic display of Mountain Bike Stunts performed by British champion, Grant Fielder.
Well done to those children who have managed to collect some sponsorship money.

Year 3 Pyjamas-Film Party - Friday 26th May

Dear Parents,
Having reached the top of the "Class Butterfly Ladder", the children in Year Three have been allowed to choose their prize for an end-of-half-term treat.
Their choice.... To watch a film in the classroom dressed in their pyjamas!
Umm? Well, we did say that it was their choice; and this was an almost unanimous decision.
However, they are only to wear their pyjamas for the afternoon session; so please wear uniforms as usual and bring pyjamas in a named bag.

Home Learning Year Three – Summer Half-Term Holiday.

The Young Enterprise “Fiver Challenge”
“-a fun way of introducing financial literacy, resilience and teamwork to primary school pupils”

The Challenge:

Children have one month to set up a mini business and create a product or service they can sell or deliver at a profit and engage with the school community (parents dropping off and picking up their children).

How it works:

1.  Plan your ideas to present to your team in class as your "home learning" activity.
2.   We decide (Mrs. Mewett + Mr. MacBean) which projects are going to be developed.
3.   We give you a “Fiver”.
4.   Your team uses this start-up capital to get their enterprise off the ground.
5.   You have a month to make as much profit as possible, whilst also aiming to engage the school community (parents dropping off and picking up their children).
6.   At the end of the month, the original “fiver” is paid back. Any profits can be spent on an activity at school (chosen by the children).

Parents' Information Session - "Changing Me" P.H.S.E. lessons - Monday 22nd May

Monday 22nd May at 9.00am  Information Session for Parents

As part of our PSHE (Personal, Social and Health education) we follow a programme called JIGSAW. This term the units we are studying are about ‘Relationships’ and ‘Changing me’.

Within the ‘Changing Me’ puzzle in every year group there are two or three lessons which help children understand the changes that occur to our bodies.
You are invited you to attend a session on Monday 22nd May at 9am in the Year 3 classroom, in which we will give you more of an insight into what your child will be learning about.
