World Book Day

 Hi Year 3 Families,

We have had a smashing World Book Day, the children all looked AMAZING in their costumes. We visited the Book swap, and I hope the children have enjoyed reading their new book this evening.

We also had a fantastic Live Lesson with the legendary Micheal Rosen during English today.

Here are some photos of our fabulous costumes.

Smashing start to Spring 2

 Hi Year Three Families,

We had an absolutely lovely week of new beginnings. We started new learning focuses in: English, Art, Science and History.

In English our new book is called The Escape from Pompeii and complements our new history topic of Celts and the Roman Invasion of Britain perfectly.

In Art we are learning all about hatching and cross hatching, we also learnt how to draw birds, all the children's artwork was impressive.

In Science our topic this half term is on light, this week we were exploring the differences between natural and artificial light.

We also had great fun on Break the Rules day and a few pranks were played on me with a Whoopee Cushion!!

In the coming week we have World Book Day on Thursday, children will still be swimming in the afternoons so please be mindful of this with their costumes, please no hair spray or make up. If you would prefer for your child to change out of their costume before we go to the pool please ensure they have a suitable change of clothes with them.

We will also be having 3 mystery readers this week.

Photos to follow as I'm having some techincal issues!

Please do get in touch if you would like to discuss anything.

This Week in Year 3

 Hi Year 3 Families,

It has been a lovely busy week here in Year 3. In English we have continue our focus on The Tin Forest, this week we have been focussing on writing description using expanded nouns phrases and adjectives.

In Maths we have been converting Ms CMs and Mms and subtracting and adding lengths.

In Geography we learnt about the different types of rainforests.
We have also said a fond farewell to Miss Gosling and we wish her the very best of luck in her future placements.

Home Learning: This week children should have brought home Year 3 spellings and my RWI group also have spellings.
Each child has brought home a paper copy of TT rockstars, there are a lots of questions on their, these can be completed over the next few weeks.

Next week we will start a focus on Fractions towards the end of the week and finish our Tin Forest work by producing an information leaflet.

Please do get in touch if you need anything

Magnets, Castles and a Gorilla

Wow!

What a week we've had! I've been looking back through the pictures and oh my goodness we were moving and shaking this week!

In Science we were looking at North and South poles on magnets and we conducted a 'floating magnet' experiment. We will be continuing our forces focus until the end of half term.

In Geography we were identifying human and physical features of South America and  we had a rather wonderful visit from a furry friend during the lesson!

On Thursday our friends from TeachRex brought Thomas the Gorilla to meet us, just before lunch we also met a baby sloth and a parrot, true Inspired To Learn at it's best!

On Friday in DT we made our castles, this was such a fun afternoon and the children were brilliantly resilient as we worked through the trials and tribulations of cutting, sticking and folding to make them!

I have been blown away by all the amazing progress children have been making in English since the beginning of term, they are doing so well!

Friday brings Miss Gosling's last day with us, Miss Gosling has worked incredibly hard with the class since October and I know myself and the children will miss her as we wave her off on her next adventure.  So a HUGE Year 3 club THANK YOU to her!!

We have parent's consultations to look forward to this week I can't wait to share all the fabulous work children have done since our last meetings.

Please do get in touch if you need anything.
