Y3: Week 3 learning

This week in Literacy we have been using synonyms to improve our writing. The children had to think of different words for cold, hungry and tired and write these in sentences linked to Shackleton's expedition.
Yesterday we started to look at features of newspaper reports and today we have started to plan our own reports.

In Power Maths we have come to the end of a short unit on multiplication and division on numbers that they should already be secure in which were the 2s, 5s and 10s. Next week we move onto learning our x4 and x8.

In Science we are now moving onto learning about our bodies and in particular this week...bones.

Please remember we'll be collecting in the reading journals tomorrow. It would be great if all of them could be in tomorrow with at least one comment in.

See you tomorrow

Y3: Great home learning submitted on PurpleMash so far!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who have submitted home learning on Purplemash so far. I can see that a few more have started the learning. I have hopefully marked the ones that have been sent in (please do let me know if the comment hasn't come up).

Year 3: Week 2 Home learning and spellings

Home learning this week has been set on purplemash. The children should know how to access this from the 3x3 links on our school website (links). Then at the top of the page there is a tick which is where the '2do' work is set. Just click on the link. I am asking them to write a Antarctica fact file. Once they have done this they just need to save it and it will automatically come to me. I have also set some Mathletics tasks.

Year 3: Week 2

We have had a fantastic week in Year 3 continuing our learning about Ernest Shackleton. This week we have made lists of items to take on the voyage to Antarctica and gave justifications of why we should take them. We have also been writing letters home to our families telling them what the journey has been like. The challenge was to use a synonym for the words scared and excited!

In Maths we have completed arithmetic and reasoning test papers and moved onto our new unit on multiplication and division.

In Science this week the children had to make a healthy and unhealthy dinner. We have been talking about the different food groups and about what makes a balanced diet. Today, the children were predicting which drinks had more sugar in. Some of them were shocked at the results!

Swimming was absolutely brilliant and the children worked hard, listening to the instructors. You can just let me know on Thursday mornings if you are picking up at the swimming pool.

Yesterday we were very lucky and got to go in a planetarium. We jetted into our solar systems and looked at the different star constellations, planets and galaxies.

Thank you to everyone who made it to the parent information session. A recording will be coming out later to those of you who haven't been able to attend.

Have a lovely weekend

2Email

Today in Computing, Mr Spracklen introduced '2Email' to Year Three.

2Email is a completely internal email system and your child cannot get email from outside of Purple Mash. It has been developed to provide a safe environment for children to learn about email. It has various settings that Mr Spracklen controls for safeguarding purposes.

Please see the below guide for more information -

We will be learning more about email in the weeks leading up to February half-term.
