This week we have carried on looking at the story of The Stone Age Boy.
The children have been writing simple and compound sentences about the characters and yesterday we worked on fronted adverbials.
In Power Maths we have been partitioning numbers using a whole part model. The children have been partitioning in hundreds, tens and ones but also by splitting up the number in different ways, as shown below.
In our outdoor learning session this week we split into two groups. Half of the class looked at printing with leaves whilst the rest of the class learnt how to use a flint and steel. We have been talking about fire safety and how they should never do this without adult supervision. The children were intrigued how the people from the Stone Age would have lit fires so we had a go! Next week we will swap over so that everyone has a go. Thank you for sending in different shoes/wellies, it's just so their new shoes don't get ruined.
In Computing, the children worked together through a flowchart to set a timer command. They had to make a rabbit disappear and the sky turn a different colour after a certain amount of time. If your child wants to carry this on then they can access this in their '2Dos' in Purple Mash.
On Friday we will be sending home the children's new reading record, spellings and home learning. In their reading record is a copy of all of their passwords for the websites you can access for free at home. I will try to blog these each week so that their is a record of this online. Please can we have the home learning folders back with the reading record and anything completed every Friday.
Just a reminder that it is my parent information session tomorrow morning at 9am in the staff room.
