Year 3: Week 3 learning so far

This week we have been working really hard on our routines in Year 3. The children are now getting used to doing handwriting practice everyday and have got the AR buzz. It has been fantastic to see how excited the children are to do AR quizzes. They can do these at home also. All the children know how to get on AR from the pupil links (on the website) they need to click on the orange AR square and type in the number or title of the book.

The reading magnifying glass in the top right will take you to where the children search for the books they have read to take the quizzes. The progress takes them to this page showing their AR points (the rocket). If the children get 80% or more that is a pass and they will put a quaffle in their pouch. The children can use the book to answer the questions. Along the tabs on the page where the rocket is, if you click on my completed work then you can see which books the children have read and passed.

This week in English the children have carried on their writing on fronted adverbials and today they wrote noun phrases linked to our story book The Stone Age Boy.

This afternoon we had a brilliant History lesson where the children learnt about the different types of humans. I wonder if they could tell you any of the names?

Unfortunately due to the high winds, it was not safe to be in the Forest School areas. So instead we did Art which the children loved. In Art we developed our skills in printing and used block prints to print a pattern.

You will get to see the finished product soon as this will be on show during the Harvest Celebration on the 6th October.
Apologies for my spelling group that have only just bought their spellings home. Our spelling checks are actually every fortnight now and so these will be checked on the 29th September. Sentence work linked to the spelling rule will be sent home this week for my group.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, please do feel free to email me.
